Boston doesn't get enough credit as a jazz town. From the days of the Storyville club to the Berklee College of Music, the city has a rich history. One big part of that history is saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi who here leads his most Bostonian band in recent memory, with trumpeter Phil Grenadier and drummer Luther Gray. Guitarist Sheryl Bailey completes the Boston connection with her position in Berklee's legendary Guitar Department, while Bergonzi's old friend, bassist Harvie S, came up from New York for the gig. With an imaginative set list of mostly Bergonzi originals, this compelling album is yet another feather in Boston's tricorn hat.
