Wallace Roney, is one of the most intriguing musicians to blossom in the current jazz scene. Having already played with some of the giants of jazz, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Chic Corea, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Art Blakey and Ornette Coleman, Roney has become one of the major jazz trumpet stylists and one of the most respected band leaders of his generation. Roney has cast his musical vision melding Miles Davis and Clifford Brown, having already embraced the music of John Coltrane, Tony Williams, Herbie Hancock and early Weather Report. Like Miles, he is unafraid of using disparate ideas Jazz, Blues, New World Music, fuzz and turntables in his music. All this is apparent in the individual solos, the tightly knit ensemble interplay and the compositions on Wallace Roney's new album Prototype; an album that definitely leans toward the future.

With: Geri Allen- piano/Fender Rhodes; Adam Holzman- keyboards/Fender Rhodes; Antoine Roney- saxophones; Matt Garrison- bass; Eric Allen- drums; DJ Logic- turntables & others.

Tracks: Cyberspace; Shadow Dance; Prototype; Then and Now; Let's Stay Together; Quadrant 329-4-526; Three Views of the Blues; Secret Identity.
